Soul Monsters Introduction

My Soul Monsters series came about from little creatures that I’ve randomly sketched on my drawing papers over the years. I don’t remember the exact date that I started drawing these, but it was somewhere around 2000 or 2001. I’ve drawn them from that point on, adding a new bunch or two about every year. I guess you could say that this is my own unique version of the monsters craze that hit and still seems to be going strong. To this day, I have over 170 of these little things running loose, and I add to them whenever I create one that I like well enough to add.

For the first time ever, I’m introducing them to the eyes of the public here on my Deviantart gallery. I plan to display every single one of them here, if possible, along with info about each one. They’re some of my closest friends when it comes to my original characters and creatures, and I’ve grown up with them through the years. I hope that you’ll enjoy them and love them as much as I have.

The names of the characters seen here will be revealed as I draw each character individually. So consider this a sneak peek at what’s to come later this year.

The Soul Monsters Story:
Soul Monsters, as they are called, mysteriously came to earth from an unknown planet and perhaps an unknown galaxy. All of them fell into different parts of our world during a gigantic meteor shower. How many came here is not known. Earth scientists are constantly discovering new ones and are still trying to classify them and give each of them names. Some of these creatures are on a mission, and that is to find the Soul Stones, which were stolen from their home planet by an evil race of monsters.

Each of the Soul Monsters wields powers unique to that particular monster. The Soul Stones once helped to power each monster’s ability. However, a lot of them soon discovered that entering the earth’s atmosphere had a dramatic and mysterious impact on each monster’s DNA structure, making their abilities stronger, more powerful, and able to recharge without the aid of the Soul Stones. But the powerful stones are still in the clutches of the evildoers. The stones’ power is dangerous in the hands of those who wish to destroy. So a special team of these creatures has banded together in order to find the Soul Stones before it’s too late.

Most of these creatures are harmless unless provoked or threatened, and some people have even ventured into keeping some of the milder ones as house pets. Some of them can be incredibly dangerous and unpredictable, though, and one must use caution when approaching them.
